S&T Shooting Sports is a Federal Firearms dealer (Type 1, 9-91-XXX-XX-XX-15162 ) and gunsmith serving from our Marysville, Washington shop. We offer and source 200K+ SKUs from dozens of domestic distributors and manufacturers in shooting sports, hunting, and the defense industries, with many that ship orders either same-day or next-day. We are able to assist in the full of range of needs including range equipment, custom modern rifles and pistols, precision reloading and casting, bulk order fullfillment, and offer a limited amount of gunsmith services at our workshop. Equipment available for gunsmith projects include; trade and platform specific tools, higher-end vices, and a laser engraver (130W/20W Output).

Products


Product vendors we source from include domestic manufacturers, distributors or wholesale volume dealers. A few products in-stock and available for pick-up or shipment from our workshop in Marysville include firearms listed on Gunbroker and items on our Square site. We sometimes have products on display at Sound Loan (in Downtown Everett, Wa & their Armslist Store).

We focus on carrying a limited number of the highest, in-demand products that are limited in availability due to both demand, we track certain item stock statuses regularly, supply, sometimes distributors refer to these products as "allocated" items for buyers at big-box stores and small businesses, and commodity, consumables that incur additional shipping & hazmat fees, i.e. reloading components; gunpowder and primers.

Another core focus is to acknowledge the value delivered by the broader online marketplace and cooperate, not necessarily "compete" in an orthodox neoclassical economic sense , with other sellers that have minimial overhead costs by avoiding expensive commercial real estate leases and building costs, underutilized, often marginalized, employees, and strictly following minimal advertising pricing (MAP) policies whenever applicable.

Transfers

Interested in shipping a firearm to us?

Walk-in's are welcome, however we want to respect your time and can't guarantee immediate availability, we might be busy working on other projects. Appointments are greatly encouraged for pickup based on either the next day of the anticipated delivery date, or at least a few hours, after delivery.

A few items we'll need at, or by, an appointment or walk-in to move forward;

1) Forwarded, or paper, copy of your receipt indicating whether or not state and local taxes need to be assessed. See DOR firearms dealer firearms dealer tax topics for more details.

2) An active photo identification (ID) including Name, Residential Address, and DOB. See ATF faq article for more details.

Please send a quick note by email, or give us a call, ideally before shipping any items, espeically if there is any doubt regarding current state and local firearm laws. Washington has recently passed a lot of laws relating to firearms and certain authorities are ensuring enforcement, see "Resources" and "Donate" sections such as WA ATG, SAF, SMF, and GOA to name a few for more details. We will provide our FFL License to other FFL Holders on request.

Shipping carriers generally deliver packages in timeframes according to the type of service choosen to send the item(s). Appointments are generally available in as soon as a few hours and according to the type of firearm, "Pistol" or "Long, Shotgun & Other Transfer".

We request a few hour hour buffer after delivery to let us log the firearm(s) into our books, if you don't already, consider also maintaining a personal firearms record . If the item isn't able to be released during the initial pickup, either reschedule the initial appointment or book a follow up "Shop Appt." appointment after receiving a notice from us that the item is ready for pickup.






Background Checks


Washington allows ten business days from the date the licensed dealer submits a request for a background check to be completed, unless the purchaser clears the check before then, with some exceptions. An expected waiting period for a background check depends on type of background check to perform which depends on the firearm type.

Shotguns, Long Guns, and others serialized items are performed by the National Instant Criminal Background System (NICS), see links in "Resources" section to learn more i.e. operational reports and appeals. Since NICS's inception, there is approximately less than a percent of background checks that have resulted in a denial. Pistol background checks are currently more of a manual process performed by local law enforcement officials, referred to as an enhanced background check, and includes additional WA WSP and HCA records, see "Resources" section under WA ATG, WA DOL, and WA WSP for more information.

In 2020, ESSHB 2467 established a centralized single point of contact system for all firearm trasnfers. WA WSP Secure Automated Firearms E-Check "SAFE" system is planned to be available by Semptember 2023 for Snohomish County FFL Dealers. Weekends & certain holidays apply to the waiting periods and depend on the type of background check needed. Please reference the WA Legislature 9.41.090 and the WA DOL for the latest statutes and updates on waiting periods and background check systems. A Washington concealed carry permit does not qualify as an alternative to a background check.

One of Washington's newest bills HB 1143 planned to be effective Jan 1, 2024, assuming availability of budget funding, concerning requirements for the purchase or transfer of firearms which includes a number of measures such as a pre-purchase license and additional training topics to existing training programs for all firearms i.e. such courses are available at Sporting Systems or NW Safe . Beyond the required minimal training see the "Resources" section on page for more comprehensive education and training options.




Sell & Ship Firearm(s)

Selling a firearm (private party transfers); whether it's a pistol, long gun, shotgun, or other seralized item requires the item to be received by an FFL holder, and often depending on the type of firearm and carrier, shipped from an FFL holder, with some exceptions. A tool available to verify a receiving FFL holders license is ATF's FFLeZCheck.

Selling a firearm online involves a certain amount of risk. One risk is ensuring compliance with both federal, state, and local laws of shipping and of the destination, see resources section under compliance standards as a starting point for research. Another risk is that items usually are shipped before knowing if the item will be able to be released, background checks aren't performed until the buyer is in person. If the buyer is unable to take possession as a result of a denied background check, and the FFL Holder is unable to release the firearm, the costs to ship the item back to the seller are then assumed by the buyer.

It would be a less common approach, however it is possible to ask for confirmation from buyer about eligably to own a firearm, especially if there isn't observable evidence like online reviews. A few assurances may include; requesting any proof of a concealed carry permit, DOL firearms records certification avilable at local law enforcement agencies (LEA), or a criminal history report with WSP. Essentially, have reasonable expectations on the risks of transfer terms, and the policies of the receiving FFL Holder.

Laser Engraving

Need to mark a firearm or personalize a product? Our laser engraving and cutting machine and lightburn software are capable of any number of designs and are able to meet certain ATF minimal standards for makers that are registering firearms. Try the software with a free trail to learn more about fonts and product image capabilities.

Please note, we are not manufacturers (FFL Type 07) and individuals interested in making firearms need to have completed the process with the ATF and provide proof of an approval. Read the instructions on the Form 1 or eForm 1 and submit all background check documents , also available at local LEAs, to the appropriate agency.




Current Rates

Transfer fees*: $25/Pistol; $15/Long Guns, Shotgun and other (serialized parts i.e. frames or receivers).

Laser Engraving; $50 per ATF approved Form 1 or by estimate.

A certain amount of consultation, planning, design, and estimation is available for free remotely or at our residential workshop/office. If an existing price is available from another retailer or service provider, please submit details for price match considerations (i.e. see rates for a variety of services for The Gunsmith at one of the largest retailers in Snohomish county, Sportsman's Warehouse).

We are likely able to match, if not beat, most e-Commerce and brick & mortar retailers, no matter the distance and including sales, unlike other "price match" promises from certain large retailers, so long as the product is available.
